Checking the Encryption Capability of Communication Partners

You can check the encryption capability of the communication partners before defining encryption policies.

You have activated Email Encryption.

To find out which encryption methods are supported by external communication partners, you can check the encryption capability of the communication partners.

  1. Log in to the Control Panel with your administrative credentials.
  2. From the scope selection, select the domain for which you would like to activate Email Encryption.
  3. Navigate to Security Settings > Email Encryption.
  4. Select the tab Encryption Policies.
  5. Click on Check encryption capability.

    An extended view opens.

  6. Under Email addresses to check, enter the email addresses of the communication partners whose encryption capability you would like to check.
    Note:

    You can add up to ten email addresses at a time. Separate multiple email addresses with a semicolon.

  7. Click on Add.

    Requests are sent to the servers of the communication partners to determine which encryption methods are supported by the servers, The email addresses of the communication partners are added to the table. The column Server response contains the responses of the servers to the requests. A tick in the columns TLS, S/MIME, PGP and Websafe indicates that the communication partner supports the encryption method.

    Note:

    To empty the table, click on Reset.

  8. Optional: To close the extended view, click on Close.
