The users are added to the list of S/MIME users (see Information about S/MIME Users). S/MIME certificates are ordered for the users as a subscription. Once the subscription is active, the status of the subscription under Subscription switches from Ordered to Active and the expiration date of the S/MIME certificate is displayed under Certificate expiration date. The S/MIME signature is activated for all added S/MIME users.

As long as an S/MIME user’s subscription is active, it will be renewed every year. To prevent the subscription from being renewed, it must be canceled at the latest 3 months before the end of the current subscription year (see Canceling a Subscription).

  12. Optional: If you want to deactivate the S/MIME signature for the user, deactivate the checkbox in the user’s row under S/MIME signature.
  13. Optional: To encrypt the user’s emails with S/MIME whenever possible, activate the checkbox in the user’s row under Encrypt (if possible).

The S/MIME users have been added and S/MIME certificates have been ordered for these users.
