Activating Email Encryption

You can activate Email Encryption to define encryption policies for incoming and outgoing emails and to manage your users' S/MIME certificates.

You have activated Spam and Malware Protection.

Email Encryption allows you to define encryption policies for the incoming and outgoing email traffic of your domain and to manage your users’ S/MIME certificates. You can activate Email Encryption for your domain.

  1. Log in to the Control Panel with your administrative credentials.
  2. From the scope selection, select the domain for which you would like to activate Email Encryption.
  3. Navigate to Security Settings > Email Encryption.
  4. Toggle the switch Activate Email Encryption.

    A confirmation window is displayed.

  5. Attention:

    Once Email Encryption is activated, a 30-day free trial period starts. Once the trial period has expired, the service will become chargeable and your account will be billed.

    Click on Confirm.

    The settings in the module are enabled.

Email Encryption has been activated for the domain.


Only emails that are sent from one of the relay IP addresses specified under Spam and Malware Encryption can be signed and encrypted with Email Encryption (see Primary Environment Settings).

Next, you can check the encryption capability of the communication partners (see Checking the Encryption Capability of Communication Partners) or directly select the encryption methods to be used (see Activating Encryption Methods).
