Setting up the Outbound Email Traffic under Microsoft 365

You can set up the outbound email traffic under Microsoft 365 to have your outgoing emails processed by our services.

You have set up the inbound email traffic under Microsoft 365.

In order to route your outgoing emails to recipients outside your organization through our infrastructure and thus have them processed, you need to set up the outbound email traffic for your domain under Microsoft 365. Your outgoing emails will then be forwarded to their respective recipients by our smarthost on behalf of your domain.

  1. Enter Hornetsecurity as a valid sender for your domain in the SPF records of your domain (see Adjusting SPF Records).

Hornetsecurity is authorized toward other email servers to send emails on behalf of your domain. Your outgoing emails will not be classified as spam by other email servers in the future if they are sent from our servers.

  2. Create a connector for the outbound email traffic (see Configuring Connector for Outbound Email Traffic).

Microsoft 365 has been provided with the address of our smarthost for forwarding outgoing emails within an outbound email traffic connector.

  3. Create a rule to forward outgoing emails to recipients outside your organization (see Setting up a New Transport Rule).

The outbound email traffic connector is applied to outgoing emails to recipients outside the organization.

The outbound email traffic for your domain has been set up under Microsoft 365. Our services can be applied to your outgoing emails to recipients outside your organization, and your outgoing emails can be forwarded to their respective recipients.
